Constables officially take office

Bond for two constables was approved Monday morning by the Lampasas County Commissioners Court. In March, the Commissioners Court appointed Bob Montgomery to fill the Precinct 1 constable position, previously held by Dennis James, and Mandy Esparza to fill the vacant Precinct 4 constable position.

EARLY VOTING BEGINS Those who wish to vote early in the May 7 constitutional amendment, city council and/or school board elections may do so through May 3 at the Lampasas County Elections Office, 407 S. Pecan St. Suite 2 in downtown Lampasas. Early voting takes place between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

To address growth in the once-sleepy town, the Kempner Volunteer Fire Department has increased its presence. At noon Saturday, the public is invited to an open house for the department’s third fire station, at 1705 FM 2313.

The early-voting period in Lampasas County begins Monday, and several non-partisan races on the various ballots. Both Lampasas and Lometa have city council seats up for grabs, and candidates are vying for school board positions in Lampasas and Lometa.
