Town unveils new helipad

Lometa’s helipad, approved in June by the Lometa City Council, was recently installed and completed at the Lometa Regional Park. Temple-based Gage and Cade Construction was selected to build the pad, with Ingram Concrete in Goldthwaite providing that material.

LAFTA announces new featured sculptures

Members of the Lampasas Association for the Arts have announced six new sculptures that will be featured in city parks this year. LAFTA board member Lynn Greenwood said the sculptures will be installed in two Lampasas parks in mid-September. “We have six new sculptures,” she said.

WINE TOUR The Lampasas County Wine Tour is scheduled for Oct. 1. The tour will feature stops and tastings at several area wineries. Chartered buses will leave the Chamber of Commerce at 10 a.m. and return around 5 p.m. Seating is limited.

Storm’s to host 14th Annual Classic Car Show

Storm’s Drive-In will host the 14th Annual Classic Car Show, themed “Cruisin Nites,” on Sept. 10. The event is free to the public. It will offer pre-1990s classic cars and trucks on display at the restaurant parking lot on East Avenue A in Lampasas.

Owners of the Lampasas business PhoLicious have sold their local café and moved to Houston. Anh and Joseph Trousdale started their pho soup kit business during the COVID-19 lockdowns, inspired by Anh’s Vietnamese heritage.

Williams accepts state emergency management position

Although Kempner’s first city manager submitted his resignation in August, he will continue to serve area residents, albeit in a different capacity. David C. Williams II announced that he has accepted a position as the Region 6 grant coordinator for the Texas Division of Emergency Management.
