Charges filed in parks vandalism case

Lampasas police have filed charges against two preteen suspects after receiving a tip about recent vandalism in city parks. Patrol Lt. Chuck Montgomery said a Lampasas Police Department school resource officer received a tip about the case Aug. 31, and misdemeanor graffiti charges were filed Sept.

Kempner tax rate hearing set for tonight

A public hearing on the tax rate for the city of Kempner will be held at City Hall on Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. Citizens are encouraged to speak about the tax rate, which is a part of the city’s budget process for the upcoming fiscal year.

County pays tribute to late justice of the peace

During Monday’s meeting of the Lampasas County Commissioners Court, a Precinct 4 justice of the peace was honored. Gregory Dean Chapman, 63, of Kempner died June 11 at AdventHealth Central Texas in Killeen.

The report from the Sept. 7 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 425, compared to 308 last sale and 527 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers steady; heifers were $3-$5 higher. Slaughter cows were $2-$4 higher, and slaughter bulls were steady.
