Burn ban lifted through Sept. 20

Lampasas County Judge Randy Hoyer has authorized lifting the county’s burn ban through Sept. 20 at 6 p.m. The order allows controlled fires outside Lampasas, Kempner and Lometa city limits. Hoyer may reinstate the ban, however, if weather conditions create a wildfire risk.

Mobile home destroyed by fire on Tuesday

DISPATCH RECORD A vacant mobile home was destroyed after it caught on fire early Tuesday afternoon. The Lampasas Fire Department received a call shortly before 2 p.m. about a structure fire in the 100 block of Private Road 4350.

Stage 1 drought watch still in effect in Lampasas

Brazos River Authority officials have a Stage 1 drought watch in place after recent rainfall in the Lampasas County area, but it could be removed in October if the rain continues. Lampasas County officials lifted the outdoor burn ban until Sept. 20.
