People’s Choice Wine Tasting Classic The 36th Annual GrapeFest in Grapevine hosted its People’s Choice Wine Tasting Classic recently, the largest consumer-judged wine competition in the nation. Festival-goers had the chance to taste 136 of Texas’ finest wines and vote for their favorites.

Taylor Creek school celebrates Johnny Appleseed

To the surprise of Taylor Creek Elementary School students, Lampasas ISD Board of Trustees member Jeff Rutland arrived at the campus Monday dressed as Johnny Appleseed. Rutland read a book to the students on the life and times of Appleseed.

36 Club opens 2022-23 season

The 36 Club, a local chapter of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Texas, met recently to kick off the new 2022-2023 season with a luncheon at Bella Italia restaurant in Lampasas. Members and club visitors were welcomed by Juli Chaney, 36 Club president.

Boots & Blazers Ball set for Oct. 15

The Lampasas Association for the Arts has set its annual Boots & Blazers Ball for Oct. 15, when it will celebrate 16 years of sculpture here. Festivities the day of the event include a Sip & Stroll from 5:30-6:30 p.m. through the Hanna Springs Sculpture Garden at Campbell Park, 501 E. North Ave.

Lampasas High School celebrated its Homecoming last week. After a parade through downtown, students gathered at Badger Field and celebrated as bubbles filled the air.

Burn ban reinstated for Lampasas County

Lampasas County has reinstated its burn ban, effective Sept. 21. The ban originally was lifted during a period of increased rainfall in the county. Kempner also lifted its burn ban for a day but then followed the county’s lead in reinstating the ban.

Lampasas council OKs budget, new tax rate

The Lampasas City Council approved an annual budget and tax rate on Monday evening, as well as numerous appointments to city boards. A second and final reading of both the Fiscal Year 2022-2023 budget and the 2022-2023 tax rate received unanimous approval. The new tax rate of $0.
