Historical weapons on display at Lampasas County Museum

Weapons from the collection of Paul Miceli will be exhibited Nov. 4-19 at the Lampasas County Museum, 303 S. Western St. in Lampasas. This historical display will be comprised of U.S.-issued long arms from the major conflicts the country fought from 1776 through World War II in 1945.

According to Lampasas County Historical Commission member Boyce Cabaniss, recent findings may indicate a substantial human presence in the area, possibly dating back 20,000 years, contradicting previous estimates. Cabaniss led an archaeology presentation at the Lampasas Public Library on Oct.

The report from the Nov. 2 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 565, compared to 472 last sale and 367 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were $7-$10 higher. Slaughter cows were steady; slaughter bulls steady to $2 lower.

New bridge group to gather

A new open bridge group, called Community Bridge, has formed in Lampasas. For many years, Daughters of the Republic of Texas sponsored a game day at the Hostess House. Since COVID hit in 2020, the group has not met but has now re-organized and will begin play on Monday at 1 p.m.

Geology Day at the public library

The Lampasas Public Library held a STEAM Geology workshop for public school and homeschool students on Oct. 25. The library’s STEAM programs are offered each month with a different theme to engage students in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.
