After restrictions during the COVID years, many now anticipate renewed holiday travel

The pandemic has hindered travel plans for the past several years, but this year, Christmas holiday travel is expected to be at its busiest since 2000, according to AAA.

Courthouse square filled with Christmas lights

Mayor TJ Monroe flips the switch to turn on the decorative holiday lighting that surrounds the downtown area. The lighting ceremony officially initiates the Christmas season in Lampasas, and it was followed by the Holidazzle Lighted Parade last Saturday.

The Dec. 1 market report from Mills County Commission Co. follows. Total receipts: 2,586. Previous week: 3,675. Trends: Light kids steady. Slaughter kids $5 higher; slaughter nannies $5-$10 higher; replacement nannies $10 higher. Wool lambs steady.

Santa greets children at Ajinomoto Foods

Jolly Old St. Nick was set up last weekend in the lobby of Ajinomoto Foods on the downtown square, so he could visit with area residents and hear lastminute gift requests from the younger ones.

CHRISTMAS CANTATA First United Methodist Church will present its 74th annual Christmas Cantata Sunday at 5 p.m. in the sanctuary. The church is located at 2 Alexander Dr. The chancel choir will be joined by choir members from several other local churches to present “All on a Silent Night.

Cattle Auction

The report from the Nov. 30 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 585, compared to 723 last sale and 870 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, stockers were $15$20 higher; feeder steers and heifers $5 higher.
