Lampasas residents organize to oppose relief route

Lampasas city and county residents packed the Council Chambers Monday evening until there was standing room only to participate in discussion about a proposed U.S. Highway 281 bypass. Many wore white to signal their opposition to the project.

Boil water notice rescinded

Kempner Water Supply Corp. officials rescinded a boil notice for all customers on Wednesday at 3:06 p.m. Officials said a concrete transmission line that had a “major leak” was repaired, and water was restored to customers Jan. 19 at about 10 p.m.

Sales tax measure to appear on Kempner ballots

After some discussion during Tuesday’s Kempner City Council meeting, city officials decided to approve an election to increase the special sales tax levied within the city. The increase would raise the local sales tax portion dedicated to streets from 0.25% to 0.5%.
