Good crowd in attendance at music event

Lampasas County Museum’s concert series has drawn good audiences. The performance above was held outdoors to accommodate a larger group, but others in the series have been indoors at 303 S. Western Ave. The free music performances are scheduled through the end of April.

Grass fire burns near U.S. 281

A six-acre grass fire during high winds on Wednesday required the assistance of the Texas Forestry Service before it could be extinguished. The fire was just outside Lampasas County on U.S. Highway 281 South. Lampasas Fire Department Cpt.

Home fire caused by embers from fireplace

First responders were able to save the majority of a Kempner house after embers ignited the structure Sunday afternoon. Kempner Volunteer Fire Department responded to a single-story home in the 600 block of County Road 3365 at about 1:54 p.m. for a report of a structure fire. KVFD Lt.

Pall looks to make impact as new veterans service officer for Lampasas County

Twenty-one-year Navy veteran Phill Pall has been appointed as the new Veterans Service Officer for Lampasas County. The former Navy commander is eager to help Lampasas County veterans receive the help they need.

Skateboarding park now ready for use

Construction of the Lampasas Skate Park was completed last week. City officials reported that the park opened on March 13, and an official ceremony at the facility would be scheduled at a future date.

The Diamondback Jubilee, hosted annually by the Lometa Lions Club, will take place this weekend at Lometa Regional Park. The Diamondback Rodeo opens at 7:30 p.m. tonight and Saturday, with a concert and dance scheduled both evenings from 9 p.m. to midnight.
