Finishing touches are underway on playground equipment at the Lampasas Boys and Girls Club. Soon, youngsters will be able to utilize the new playset. Boys and Girls Club branch director Michael Blount plans to open the space this week.

Along with a growing need for future automotive workers, the aviation industry also offers a multitude of job openings. To help students plan for possible careers, Lampasas High School hosted its third annual Aviation Career Day recently to interest students in jobs within that vocational field.

The report from the April 5 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 323, compared to 305 last sale and 712 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, stockers were steady to $3 lower (due to quality). Feeder steers and heifers were $5-$7 higher.

St. Mary Catholic Church’s Food Pantry at 701 N. Key Ave. will offer an evening distribution today from 4-7 p.m. to supplement its once-amonth Friday times. Through the end of 2023, the food pantry will serve clients on the second Tuesday of each month from 4-7 p.m.

Student art pops up in Campbell Park

A colorful new art addition sits in the Hanna Springs Sculpture Garden. The Pop Art Portal, a sectioned archway of dozens of individually designed panels, was installed April 1. Lampasas Middle School art and yearbook instructor Mike Kuehne initiated the project with his sixthgrade art students.
