Rainwater harvesting, turf management training set for May 4

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension’s “Healthy Lawns and Healthy Waters Program” will host a residential rainwater harvesting and turf management training May 4 for those in Bell, Burnet, Coryell, Hamilton Lampasas, Mills and Williamson counties. The free event is from 1-5 p.m.

Riata Roundup to include calf scramble

The calf scramble event for kids is one of the staples at the annual Riata Roundup Rodeo & LTX BBQ Fest, held at the 580 Sports Complex in Lampasas. The goal of the scramble is to loose a ribbon from the tail of a rowdy calf.

Kempner council talks monument needs, water leak problem

Tuesday’s Kempner City Council meeting included discussion about the memorial wall at Sylvia Tucker Memorial Park. Another matter of concern to city officials is a water leak near City Hall.

Senior center reopens after temporary closure

City officials have confirmed the Lampasas Multi-Service/Senior Center is open after structural concerns surfaced last month. Center director Julie Windham said she called city officials in late March after spotting a crack along the wall of the facility, located at 901 S. Live Oak St.

Plaque dedication planned to recognize philanthropists

Rex and the late Linda Johnson, founders of the Cooper Spring Nature Park, will be honored at a plaque dedication on April 22. The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. at the park entrance. The public is invited to attend.

County Judge Randy Hoyer and Precinct 1 County Commissioner Bobby Carroll spoke in support of House Bill 1613 on Monday. The pair traveled to Austin to testify at a hearing with the House Ways and Means Committee on the benefits HB 1613.
