Republican women’s club hosts candidate forum for office-seekers

With the May general election nearing, citizens had the opportunity to hear three Lampasas municipal candidates speak at Tuesday’s gathering of the Lampasas Area Republican Women.

Group celebrates opening of Lampasas Skate Park

On Saturday, Wings of Eagles Outreach volunteers dedicated the new skateboarding facility at Campbell Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony provided by the Lampasas County Chamber of Commerce. Mayor TJ Monroe and City Council members also were present to celebrate the completion of the skate park.

Severe thunderstorms possible this afternoon

UPDATE: At 4:44 p.m., the NWS issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Lampasas, effective until 5:45 p.m. Avoid road travel if possible and seek shelter indoors.

San Saba to host Pecan Field Day May 1

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the San Saba County Pecan Growers Association will host the annual Pecan Field Day on May 1 at the San Saba Civic Center, 1190 Thomas Stewart Dr. Registration will begin at 8 a.m., with the program to start at 9 a.m.

Red Cross Blood drive set for May 9-10

Dates for the next Lampasas Community Blood Drive, offered by the American Red Cross, will be May 9-10. First Street Church of Christ at 201 W. First St., will host the drive in the fellowship hall. Hours on May 9 are 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The May 10 donation hours are 12:305:30 p.m.

Scam seminar set May 3 at Senior Center

The Lampasas Multi-Service/Senior Center will host a seminar May 3 to offer education on how to avoid scams. The seminar will take place from 10-11 a.m. The Lampasas Police Department will provide education concerning current scamming techniques.

Shelter hosts pet fair

Staff from Isom Veterinary Hospital provide this pooch with a vaccine for rabies. Vaccinations for dogs and cats were discounted at Saturday’s Lampasas Animal Shelter pet fair.
