Lightning streaks across the sky

Thunderstorms rolled across parts of Lampasas County Friday night. While lightning and thunder prevailed for quite awhile, not all areas recorded moisture from the storm. Few raindrops fell on the west side of the city, but areas north of Kempner saw close to an inch of rain.

Area residents observe National Day of Prayer

Lampasas Community Church welcomed area believers to a prayer breakfast in observance of this year’s 72nd annual National Day of Prayer. The gathering began at 7 a.m. Thursday and took place in the congregation’s new church building on East Fourth St. It was in 1952 that the Rev.

‘Happy Hour at the Gardens’ set for May 11

Lampasas Community Garden will host “Happy Hour at the Gardens” on May 11 from 5-8 p.m. The fundraiser will feature wine tastings from local vineyards, hors d’oeuvres and barbecue fare. All proceeds from the event will benefit the community garden, a nonprofit organization.

LTX BBQ Fest has successful run

LTX BBQ Fest cookoff results have been released. The cookoff is sanctioned by the Champions Barbecue Alliance. Sure Shot BBQ, with head cooker Josh Hale, claimed the grand champion title. LC BBQ, with head cooker Phillip Breeden, earned the reserve championship.
