Election results are in: Lometa bond passes

The results of the May 6 municipal elections are in on Saturday night, showing the Lometa ISD bond proposition passed by a large margin. Election officials reported the total number of ballots cast as 628. 

The unofficial, preliminary results were reported by the Lampasas County Elections Administrator's office as follows:

The Lometa ISD proposition A, regarding the $1.75 million bond, passed by a landslide with 149 in favor and 30 in opposition.

Proposition One for Kempner City residents seems to have passed by a narrow margin, receiving 18 votes for, and 16 against.

In Lampasas, Herb Pearce will take the mayoral seat, with a total of 307 votes. Cathy Kuehne received a total of 105. For the contested Place 2 council seat, Eric Hernandez received the majority, with 254 votes in comparison to Bob Goodart’s 146.

For the three at-large Lometa Council seats, preliminary results show Jaelyn Downey, Alex Witherspoon and Luella “Ronnie” Cartwright out ahead, with 46, 49 and 45 votes, respectively. Lawrence “Larry” Koch follows closely with 40 votes.

For the two contested seats on the board of Lometa ISD, Courtney Duncan and Mario Maldonado came out ahead, with 132 and 102 votes respectively. Carlos Garcia received 65 votes.
