Historical commission recognized for its work

During Monday’s Lampasas County Commissioners Court meeting, County Judge Randy Hoyer presented members of the Lampasas County Historical Commission with a Distinguished Service Award from the Texas Historical Commission.

Employers highlight options at job fair

The Annual Lampasas Hiring Event took place Wednesday at the Calvert Municipal Building in downtown Lampasas. The event sought to bring in a variety of employers from several industries with employment opportunities available for local residents.

Man injured in motorcycle wreck

A Lampasas man was hospitalized last Friday after a motorcycle wreck that police attributed to gravel in the roadway. Lampasas Police Assistant Chief Charlie Boswell said the wreck occurred at 9:09 p.m. when a man in his early 20s was riding his new motorcycle on city streets.

CATTLE AUCTION REPORT

The report from the June 14 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 421, compared to 281 last sale and 688 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, stockers were $10-$15 lower; feeder steers and heifers were $5-$7 higher.

Service set today for former constable Harris

Former Lometa-area constable John W. Harris died June 12, 2023 at the age of 80. He worked many years in the law enforcement field. A memorial service will be held June 16 at 10:30 a.m. at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas. Visitation is one hour before the service. Harris was born Jan.

High heat grips Central Texas

Triple-digit temperatures are well on their way to Lampasas, and the heat index may rise to 110 next week. Friday could see a high of 106 degrees Fahrenheit in the area, launching what could be numerous days of three-digit temperatures, and the first 100-degree highs of the season.
