The report from the Aug. 2 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 540, compared to 685 last sale and 722 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers were $3-$5 lower, heifers steady to $3 higher.

Dive-in Movie Night set for Sunday at Hanna Springs pool

The city of Lampasas will offer a Dive-in Movie Night Sunday from 8:30-10:30 p.m. at the Hanna Springs Swimming Pool, 501 E. North Ave. Cost is $5 per person. The featured movie is “Moana.”

Campuses offer open house Aug. 7-8

Lampasas ISD will hold open house at its campuses next week before the start of classes on Aug. 10. Meet the Teacher at Hanna Springs Elementary and Kline Whitis Elementary will be Monday from 5-6 p.m. Meet the Teacher at Taylor Creek Elementary will be Monday from 5:30-7 p.m.

Back to School Bash features area businesses

Lampasas ISD staff were able to shop at vendor booths during the annual Back To School Bash held this week at the Lampasas High School campus.

KWSC to install new water intake

Kempner Water Supply Corp. will install a new intake Aug. 14 on its Stillhouse Hollow Lake water reservoir. The current intake is at 604 feet, but the system is in threat of not being able to produce water with dropping lake levels.

State law to end juvenile curfew restrictions in city

The city of Lampasas’ juvenile curfew ordinance no longer will be in effect come Sept. 1. In June, Gov. Greg Abbott signed House Bill 1819 into law, taking away the authority from cities to enforce curfews. Lampasas is the only municipality in the county to have an active juvenile curfew.

Texas’ annual sales tax holiday set Aug. 11-13

Shoppers can save money on clothes and school supplies during the state’s sales tax holiday – set this year for Aug. 11-13. Texas law exempts sales tax on qualified items during the tax holiday.

KWSC rescinds boil water notice

UPDATE: This morning (Aug. 2), the KWSC issued an alert to customers revealing the boil water notice was no longer in effect.  On Friday, the Kempner Water Supply Corp. issued a boil notice to all customers due to the leak in the transmission line off U.S. Highway 190.
