A productive year for hay producers

After enduring two years of severe drought conditions, Lampasas County hay producers have seen timely rains create much better growing conditions for their crop in 2024. The hay in this field between Nix and Bend was baled last week before more moisture arrived in the area.

City Council receives budget presentation

The fiscal year 2025 for the city of Lampasas is approaching, and Monday night the Lampasas City Council took a big step forward in the budgeting process when City Manager Finley deGraffenreid offered a lengthy presentation on where the proposed budget stands.

DeGraffenried announces his pending resignation

Finley deGraffenried, who has served as the city manager for the past 12 years, announced Wednesday he will resign from the position on Oct. 31.According to a news release from the city, deGraffenried has supervised a staff of more than 115 people over his tenure in Lampasas.

Chief appraiser set to step down

Lampasas Central Appraisal District Chief Appraiser Susan Jones submitted her letter of resignation to Board of Directors Chairman Marshall Brewer on July 19.Jones joined LCAD as chief appraiser in May 2021 and is set to leave her post on Aug. 2.

Burn Ban Lifted

County Judge Randy Hoyer has extended the period during which outdoor burning is allowed.A burn ban adopted July 8 had previously been lifted through July 22.After precipitation across the county this week, the period during which burning will be allowed now has been extended until Aug. 12.
