Dr. Pablo B. Leonardo of Lampasas, a longtime internist and cardiologist, died on Aug. 20, 2024. He was 85.A rosary will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel on Aug. 30 at 5:30 p.m., with visitation to follow until 8 p.m.The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church on Aug.

LISD sees enrollment bump

Lampasas Independent School District is continuing to grow based on enrollment numbers from the start of the 2024-2025 school year.At the end of the 2023-2024 school year, LISD finished with 3,559 students. As of Aug, 16, the district has 3,640 students enrolled across its five campuses.

A new Sons of Confederate Veterans camp was formally organized in Lampasas on Aug. 10.Lampasas Methodist Church played host to the chartering event, which was attended by 35 people. A meal of barbecue brisket, beans and cornbread was served before the ceremonies.

The American Red Cross has declared a national blood emergency, noting a shortfall of 19,000 donations in July that caused the blood supply to plummet by 25%.Now, remnants of Hurricane Debby are complicating efforts to rebuild the supply, Red Cross officials said.
