Morris announces run for county judge in 2026

Zachary Morris, a former Lampasas City Council member and owner of Morris Law P.C. on the courthouse square, is running for Lampasas County judge in 2026.Morris is the second candidate to formally announce an intention to run for the position.

Emergency conservation funds available to help ranchers recover from recent flooding

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service is opening a special disaster sign-up for $5 million in additional funding through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program for farmers and ranchers in the Hill Country who have been affected by recent flooding.

Power surge leads to fire at house on Skyline Drive

A collapsed electric line on Crider Lane caused a power surge that led to a house fire on Skyline Drive during the evening hours of Aug. 19.Lampasas Fire Marshal Bart Baker said no injuries were reported in the fire, adding that residents took quick action to extinguish the flames.

Suspect apprehended after shooting incident

The Lampasas Police Department, with assistance from several law enforcement agencies, apprehended 20-year-old Nathan Samuel Diederich on Monday.Diederich, of Lampasas, is the suspect in a shooting incident Sunday that left a 24-yearold man with a gunshot wound to the neck.
