Bingo evening planned

Lily Springs Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center will sponsor an “Aloha! Community Bingo” night June 27 from 5-7 p.m. at the nursing home, 901 Central Texas Expy.The event is open to the public. Door prizes and refreshments will be available.

Series on healthy aging set to begin this week

“Be Well, Live Well: a Program on Healthy Aging” is a five-part series that will be offered by the AgriLife Extension Service at two sites every other Monday, beginning June 17 and running through Aug. 12.At 10:30 a.m., the program will be held at the Lampasas Senior Center, 901 S. Live Oak.

Mainville named new Kempner VFD chief

Alan Mainville was introduced as the new Kempner Volunteer Fire Department chief during Monday’s Lampasas County Commissioners Court meeting.Mainville is no stranger to the Kempner VFD, having served from 2002 to 2014 and rising to the rank of assistant chief.

Scholarship recipient named

The Lampasas Pilots Association Training Fund Scholarship of $500 has been awarded to Chesley Breuer, a Lampasas High School student who has shown interest in pursuing an aviation-related career.

Snow Queen winner to compete at Miss Texas pageant in Houston

Vera-Rose Johnson is set to show off her talents at the Miss Texas pageant in Houston this weekend, held at The Royal Sonesta.In December, Johnson was named Snow Queen in the local pageant’s intermediate division and claimed the Humanitarian Award. Now, Johnson will seek the title of Miss Texas.
