Sunday event to benefit LHS graduate battling leukemia

DISPATCH RECORD Lampasas High School graduate Michael Neary recently was diagnosed with leukemia. A fundraiser in his honor will be hosted Sunday at the high school track from 6-8 p.m. Neary graduated in May as the number-three academic student in the Class of 2022.

Recent Lampasas High School graduate Nathan Abken has personalized automaker Toyoto’s slogan of “Let’s go places.” Abken has taken his skills straight to the Toyota Service Center in Round Rock where he is on a fast track pursuing his career goal in the automotive industry.

New Beginning of Restoration and Hope, a pregnancy and family resource center in Lampasas, has been busy. Thirty-one of its 84 regular client families began coming in 2022, accounting for 300 appointments, Assistant Director Monica Stephen said in an email.

The report from the July 20 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 1,052, compared to 826 last sale and 324 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, steers and heifers were $10-$12 higher on light calves; feeders were steady.
