Hornets see some high placings at track meet this month

The Hornets’ first track and field competition of the year was on March 3, and several athletes finished in the top three in their events. Sierra Tower placed first in discus and second in the shot put. Donnie Smart took second in both the discus and the shot put.

Lady Badgers lose close one to Salado before district play begins

The Lady Badgers traveled to Salado last Thursday for their final game before district action begins this week. The Lady Eagles won 10-8, but Lampasas showed a lot of fight after trailing early in the game.

Lady Badgers compete well at state powerlifting meet

Over spring break, two Lady Badgers competed at the state powerlifting meet, where they finished ninth and 15 th in their respective weight classes. Nimsi Vergara matched her best total of the year, at 495 pounds.

Badgers come up short in district contest with Stephenville

The Badgers went to Stephenville last Friday for their third district game of the year. They ended up losing 12-2, but Lampasas head coach Chance Evans said the final score did not accurately reflect the positives for the Badgers.

Greens to be aerated at Hancock Park

The greens at Hancock Park Golf Course are going to be aerated early next month, causing the course to be closed to the public on April 4 and April 5. In addition to the aeration, the greens will also be sanded during this two-day period.

Evans gets win No. 100; Badgers move to 1-1 in district play

Chance Evans has been the head baseball coach in Lampasas since last season, and on Tuesday night he achieved win No. 100 as a high school baseball coach. The milestone came against the Brownwood Lions, as the Badgers won 4-1.

Badgers finish seventh at regional meet; two advance to state

The Badgers had eight lifters compete at the regional powerlifting meet last Saturday, and they finished seventh overall with 12 points in the team standings. Individual lifters who will be competing at the state meet later this month are Westen Reid and Domonique Wooten.
