Lometa teen arrested after crash in Kempner

A Lometa teen was arrested on a felony charge Sunday morning after authorities said he stole a vehicle and wrecked it. At 7:01 a.m. Sunday, Texas DPS troopers responded to a report of a one-vehicle crash on County Road 4390 about three miles southwest of Kempner. DPS Sgt.

Abandoned house burns; officials still investigating the incident

An abandoned house on Main Street burned to the ground Friday evening, and officials said the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Lampasas Fire Department officials said a single-story home in the 1700 block of South Main Street burned down Friday at about 8 p.m.

Man hospitalized after collision on South Key Avenue

A 54-year-old male from San Saba was injured Friday evening after hitting a stopped vehicle that was partially in the travel lane at the 1400 block of South Key Avenue. Agencies on the scene included the Lampasas Police Department, Lampasas Fire Department and Hamilton EMS.

Annular eclipse to occur Oct. 14

An upcoming annular eclipse is expected to impact solar production for the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, but no conservation is thought necessary at this time, officials said. On Oct. 14, an annular solar eclipse will pass through the ERCOT region.

LISD demographic study shows some growth is on the way

A study pertaining to student population growth was presented during Monday’s meeting of the Lampasas Independent School District Board of Trustees. Zonda Education, a firm that specializes in demographic studies for school districts, was responsible for the study.

TxDOT sets new open house dates for U.S. 281 project

After a canceled public meeting on July 25, TxDOT officials have rescheduled a virtual and in-person open house for early November to discuss the expansion of U.S. Highway 281 between Lampasas and Evant. The open house has one virtual time frame and two in-person meeting options.
