Eclipse town hall set for Wednesday

To help the public prepare for the April 2024 solar eclipse, the chamber of commerce will join with city and county officials in presenting a town hall Wednesday from 6-7 p.m. at the former middle school cafeteria, 103 N. Western Ave.

Lometa stock show on tap

Another annual classic has rolled around on the events calendar, with the Lometa FFA set to host its livestock show on Saturday. The show traditionally is an opportunity for individuals to practice for the county and state livestock shows in the coming months.

Tree trimming begins

Tree trimming begins Dec. 11 in Lampasas

The city of Lampasas’ annual tree-trimming program begins Monday to clear hanging limbs and encroaching branches in three city sections. Assistant City Manager Ryan Ward said the program has gone on annually for at least five years, if not several more.

Kempner VFD receives grant for equipment

The Kempner Volunteer Fire Department was awarded a $5,000 grant on Nov. 17 through Project Axell, courtesy of the Daniel Stark Law Firm. Project Axell is a mission of Daniel Stark, inspired by Amanda Ruble’s efforts to raise funds for the Leroy Volunteer Fire Department in Axtell.

The 36th annual Pierian Christmas Concert is set for Tuesday at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 402 S. Key Ave. in Lampasas. The concert will include carols by D’Anne Willis and Alicia Straley, as well as a performance of “Comfort and Joy” by the Children in Action youth choir.
