Bible Study Fellowship starts next month

The Lampasas women’s Bible Study Fellowship group for 2024-2025 will be doing “Revelation: The Hope.”Meetings start mid-September on Wednesday mornings.Those who are interested should text or call Deb Kuker at 512-556-1085, or register online at bsfinternational.org.

Lampasas County grand jury convened last week to continue its July term.

DISTRICT COURT

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings.Defendant Derick Logan Dayton of Lampasas entered a plea of true to a charge of assault on a family/household member-impede breath/circulation.

KWSC to change up chemicals to rid water of color, odor

The Kempner Water Supply Corp. issued two lengthy statements Tuesday regarding the water supplier’s efforts to clean the system and allay fears over bacterial contamination.

Frustrations come out at budget workshop

A member of the Lampasas City Council voiced some frustration with city staff at Monday evening’s budget workshop, because he felt the information he requested in order to have a thorough discussion with colleagues was not provided.

BRIEFLY

The county order restricting outdoor burning is in effect until Sept. 23. The city of Lampasas also has issued a burn ban due to the extreme heat. The fire marshal is not issuing burn permits at this time.

County budget up almost 12% for new year

Lampasas County is proposing an 11.8% increase to its budget for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, which gives most departments an increase in funding.The county is anticipating $12,447,731 in general fund expenditures, compared to $11,136,081 from a year ago.
