Alligators sighted at Lake Marble Falls

Lake Marble Falls recorded a few scaly sights on July 26, when reports of alligator sightings were made to the Marble Falls Police Department. The city’s animal control officer responded to the scene and confirmed activity of what looked like gators at the lake.

LISD plans to lower tax rate slightly, will dip into savings

The Lampasas Independent School District is expecting a 3.9% increase in general fund expenditures for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.The district will host a public hearing Aug. 26 on its upcoming FY budget and tax rate. LISD has proposed a levy of $1.

The order restricting outdoor burning is back in effect. The order had been lifted temporarily through Aug. 12.The county burn ban now is in effect until Sept. 23.The city of Lampasas also has issued a burn ban due to the extreme heat. The fire marshal is not issuing burn permits at this time.

Climate woes: Is the weather making you fat?
