Balloting begins for Best of Best

The Lampasas Dispatch Record’s popular Best of the Best Reader’s Choice contest kicks off this week. A ballot appears on page 7 of today’s edition.This marks the ninth year the newspaper has offered balloting to recognize readers’ favorite people and business services in Lampasas County.

Commissioners Court OKs tax rate of $0.55

After two public hearings on the 2024-25 fiscal year budget and tax rate, the Lampasas County Commissioners Court approved both items in its Monday regular meeting that followed.Commissioners approved a tax rate of $0.55 per $100 in property value -- a 6.89% increase from the 2023-24 rate of $0.

TRUMP TRAINTexas First Conservative Alliance of Lampasas is coordinating a Trump Train for Sept. 21. Staging and decorating of vehicles will be from 9-10 a.m. at the Lampasas County Youth Livestock Center.At 10 a.m., the Trump Train will leave for a drive through Lampasas, Kempner and Copperas Cove.

Flushing the hydrants

Last week, the city of Lampasas Public Utilities crew spent time flushing water lines after it converted the disinfectant from chloramines to free chlorine to improve water quality.

Western Street Dance set Sept. 21

Lampasas County Museum will host Jake Hooker and the Outsiders for its “Western Night on Western Street Dance” on Sept. 21.The evening of entertainment will take place at 303 S. Western Ave. from 6-10 p.m.
