Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings.Defendant James Ross Sikes of Copperas Cove entered a plea of true to a charge of possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram.

City Council appoints new city manager, EDC members

In a unanimous vote Monday night, Lampasas City Council appointed a new city manager.After a brief executive session, Erin Corbell was selected to replace outgoing City Manager Finley deGraffenried, who announced his resignation in late July.

Two arrested last week after foot pursuit

A routine traffic stop became a vehicle pursuit and then a foot chase when a Waco man allegedly fled from officers.Lampasas County sheriff’s deputies arrested John Nathan McLaughlin, 44, Oct. 7 after authorities said he evaded police by vehicle and then on foot.
