School choice bill passes Senate, heads to Texas House

Texas House members will decide the fate of Senate Bill 2 that would establish Education Savings Accounts, better known as school choice legislation.On Feb. 5, the Texas Senate passed SB 2 by a 1912 vote.

Meteorologists: arctic front coming Tuesday

National Weather Service Meteorologists are predicting an ‘arctic front’ to arrive in Central Texas on Tuesday, bringing possible single-digit temperatures to Lampasas.“An arctic cold front will arrive on Tuesday with temperatures falling during the daytime.

Spiller to make Lampasas stop

House District 68 Rep. David Spiller (R-Jacksboro) will visit Lampasas on Tuesday to catch residents up on the 89th Legislative session. The event hosted by the Texas First Conservative Alliance will take place at 5:30 p.m.

Museum celebrates 90 years of Rollins Brook Hospital

While the AdventHealth Rollins Brook facilities are updated for the 21st century, the hospital has roots in the community that are over 90 years old. A special exhibition at the Lampasas County Museum has opened to the public to honor this local heritage and will run through April.

Masonic Lodge promotes dental health

Representatives from Saratoga Lodge #546 visited each of the elementary schools in Lampasas County last week and donated dental kits for distribution to area first-graders. The donation is part of the “Fantastic Teeth” Masonic Charities Program.

Sharing flowers with senior residents

The Junior Pierian Club was treated to a floral arrangement class for the February meeting by longstanding Pierian Club member Karen Cambon. The girls created arrangements and delivered them to Lampasas Assisted Living for residents to enjoy in their dining room in advance of Valentine’s Day.
