Free eight-week nutrition program offered in Killeen

AdventHealth Central Texas has announced it will offer its Healthy Eating and Nutrition Program. The first session of the program is Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. inside conference room 3 & 4 of the main hospital at 2201 S. Clear Creek Rd. in Killeen.

Hospital to celebrate 90th anniversary

Lampasas County Museum has opened its newest special exhibit, this one recognizing the upcoming anniversary of the hospital’s opening in 1935. The museum, at 303 S. Western Ave., is open Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge Debbie Garrett presiding over the day’s hearings.Defendant Clifford Brandon Madding of Austin garnered five years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Demolition of pocket park makes room for county’s new storage building

The pocket park behind the Lampasas County Office Buildings has been torn down to make room for a new county storage facility.Commissioners OK’d the demolition of the pocket park during Monday’s Lampasas County Commissioners Court meeting.

BRIEFLY

County Judge Randy Hoyer has lifted the countywide burn ban temporarily after recent rains. Outdoor burning may be conducted until Monday at 5 p.m., when the restriction goes back into effect.
