Downtown sees reminder of bygone era

These vintage automobiles offer a picturesque view of what the downtown square might have looked like a century ago. These classic cars were parked in a row along East Third Street on Friday evening. The owners had their vehicles in pristine condition.

Chief appraiser outlines his request for 2025 budget amendments

The Lampasas Central Appraisal District Board of Directors was not ready to commit to the 22% budget increase proposed by Chief Appraiser Juan Saucedo at Thursday’s regular meeting.

A day of free art activities will be available in Campbell Park on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as part of the LAFTA-sponsored Arts in the Park for Kids. Musical, theatrical and dance performance will be included with the art activities. Free hot dogs also will be offered.

Lampasas City Council approves structural review of Hostess House

During last Monday’s meeting of the Lampasas City Council, the group approved a structural review of the Hostess House.In a 6-1 vote, council members decided to pay $5,950 to LOC Consultants, Structural Division Inc. for the structural review.

Lampasas County Commissioners Court recognized April as Child Abuse Prevention Month at the court’s regular meeting on March 24.

Community clean-up workday slated for Oak Hill Cemetery

The Oak Hill Cemetery board and city of Lampasas are asking community members to gather at Oak Hill Cemetery on Saturday from 3-6 p.m. for a cleanup.Volunteers are asked to bring their lawnmowers, weed eaters and safety goggles to help restore and maintain this space.

Citizens express concerns about proposed rail line

Lampasas County residents were not shy to offer thoughts on a proposed 26.9-mile railroad line. Numerous citizens showed up at Monday’s Lampasas County Commissioners Court and Lampasas City Council meetings to voice their opinions.
