The report from the April 3 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows.Cattle and calves: Total cattle 325, compared to 338 last sale and 323 at this time last year.Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were steady.

Pre-eclipse party coming to Lampasas downtown square

Lampasas County residents and incoming visitors for the 2024 total solar eclipse will be treated to a free concert on April 7 from 6:30-10 p.m. at the downtown courthouse square.Attendees will be able to enjoy music by the Bob Wills’ Texas Playboys, under the direction of Jason Roberts.

Ketchums travel to Young Farmer meetings in nation’s capital

On a recent trip to Washington, D.C., San Saba County Young Farmer member Clovia Ketchum – who serves as national president for the organization – and her husband Tommy, who is president-elect for 2025, met with several committees on agriculture and ag-related matters.

March meeting of 36 Club includes program on gardening

The 36 Club had a presentation in March by Janet Crozier of the Lampasas Community Gardens. She has decades of gardening experience and was the impetus behind establishment of the community gardens in Campbell Park.

Straley Cemetery receives historical marker

Straley Cemetery near Adamsville has been honored with a Texas Historical Marker. The unveiling took place at the end of March with members of the Straley family and the cemetery association in attendance.Straley Cemetery is one of the largest rural cemeteries in Lampasas County.
