The Lady Badger volleyball team traveled to Gatesville last week to play in a tournament Thursday and Saturday. Pool play took place Thursday, and the girls went 2-1 with a loss to Gatesville, 1025, 22-25.
The Badgers traveled to Gordon Wood Stadium in Brownwood on Thursday to scrimmage against the Lions. This was the final tune-up for both teams, as the Texas high school football regular season starts Friday.
The Badger tennis team played against Pflugerville on Friday and then Burnet on Saturday, splitting those two matches. Lampasas lost 14-5 to Pflugerville and beat Burnet 14-5.
The Lampasas cross country teams got started with their season last week when they ran in Temple, and both teams placed in the top three. The boys’ team finished second with 90 points in the meet that featured 13 teams from Conference 1A to 4A and more than 100 total runners.
The trip Tuesday to Copperas Cove was a productive one, as the Badgers came home with an 18-1 tennis win over the Bulldawgs. The only loss for Lampasas came in singles matches.
The Lady Badger volleyball team traveled to Harker Heights Tuesday night for a non-district match against the 6A Lady Knights, and they struggled against a tough opponent. Lampasas lost in straight sets, 10-25, 12-25, 13-25.
Last month, varsity and junior varsity cheer teams from across the state went to UCA Cheer Camp at Angelo State University. Lampasas received the Top Banana recognition for being the most spirited group in attendance and also brought home several other awards.
Badger football is officially back, as Lampasas played host to Salado for the first scrimmage of the season last Friday on Badger Field. The teams traded possessions in which they would run eight plays each if they gained first downs, and then after a few possessions each, they moved to a 15-minute live quarter.
The Lady Badger volleyball team spent Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Austin for the first tournament of the season. Forty-two teams participated in the tournament, ranging from 3A to 6A schools.
