The No. 5-ranked Conference 4A Division I team in the state will play host to the Lampasas Badgers tonight, as the Wimberley Texans look to maintain their perfect record on the journey to reach another state championship game.

The Lampasas cross country teams traveled to Salado last week, and the boys’ team came home with its second runner-up finish of the season, competing against schools ranging from 1A to 4A divisions.

The Badgers had to get past nearly every obstacle possible to continue their undefeated season in 2023. Lampasas went on the road Thursday night to Pflugerville Connally to play the Badgers’ first away game, then they had to endure a weather delay that lasted around an hour and a half.

The Lampasas tennis team played host to Belton and Leander last week, and they split the two matches, beating Belton and losing to Leander. Against Belton, the Badgers won six of the seven doubles matches.
