Local barrel racer qualifies for Women’s Rodeo World Championship

From Sunday through Nov. 15, the Professional Bull Riders and Women’s Rodeo World Championship will unite to make women’s sports history, teaming up to hold the $750,000 Women’s Rodeo World Championship in Texas.

One of the qualifiers is Lampasas County resident Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi, a two-time world champion.

Featuring some of the world’s fiercest female athletes, more than 200 contestants will compete in barrel racing, team roping (heading and heeling) and breakaway roping. Each champion will earn a $60,000 bonus, and an additioanl $20,000 prize will go to the All-Around Champion.

Qualifying rounds will be held in Fort Worth. The Top 6 athletes in each competing discipline will advance to the championship at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Those rounds, held in tandem with the 2020 PBR World Finals: Unleash The Beast, will be held Nov. 13-15.
