George Santos, a newly elected congressman from Long Island, New York, has been caught in a string of embarrassing lies about his background. He claimed to have received a degree from Baruch College in 2010; he didn’t.

The Texas Department of Transportation has offered two presentations in Lampasas to provide information on a proposal to build a “relief route” that would redirect highway traffic around the city and away from the commercial district. A third session may be offered in the spring.

Secular conservatives have done great work on behalf of America, liberty and conservatism in general. But they will not likely have conservative grandchildren and many will not have conservative children. I know this because I speak with hundreds of conservatives a year in person and on the radio. I routinely ask these questions: “How many children do you have?” After they give me a number, I ask: “With regard to their holding your conservative values, what’s your batting average?”

The children gathered that day for the first time in their first-grade classroom. At the top of the agenda: learn how to do simple problems in addition and subtraction. After the teacher reviewed some basic principles of arithmetic, she asked one of the students: “Do you know what one plus one equals?”

Cosmologists today include an inflationary period to explain our universe.
