Pedro L. Montoya Sr., 79, of Lampasas died on Feb. 16, 2021 in Killeen.

He was born on July 29, 1941 in Puerto de Luna, New Mexico to Juan and Corina (Lopez) Montoya.

Pedro married Dolores Ramirez on Oct. 16, 1959 in Lubbock, and they were married 61 years.

He had lived in Lampasas since 1967, having been in Lubbock prior to this.

Pedro had been a cement finisher in the construction industry for nine years. He enjoyed walking, and especially enjoyed fishing with his daughter Deborah and her husband Andy at Sulphur Creek.

He was preceded in death by Merejildo Montoya, Fred Montoya, Joe Montoya, Rudy Montoya, Julia Rodriguez and Yolanda Gomez.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores R. Montoya of Lampasas; four sons, Rene Montoya of Austin, Pedro Montoya Jr. and wife Crystal of Cedar Park, Robert Montoya of Dallas, and Adam Montoya of Lampasas; two daughters, Rachel Montoya of Florence, and Deborah Sanchez and husband Andy of Lampasas; four brothers, Hilario Montoya, Sammy Montoya, Jerry Montoya and Johnny Montoya, all of Dallas; three sisters, Vivian Montoya of Dallas, Mary Hinojosa of Tyler, and Ramona Morin of Lubbock; 13 grandchildren, Erick Montoya, Ernest Montoya, Alma Gonzales and Mike, Jessie Sandoval, Josefina Straley and Chris, Jessica Levin and Ian, Amber Montoya, Ashley Montoya, Austin Montoya, Roman Montoya, Emily Montoya, Monica Montoya, and Alycia Montoya; and by several greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Feb. 26 at Heritage Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. The family has requested visitors wear masks.

A graveside service will be held Feb. 27 at Oak Hill Cemetery at 11 a.m., with Deacon James Herron officiating. A procession will leave from Heritage Funeral Home at 10:40 a.m. for anyone who would like to follow.
