Retired teacher Becky Isom died on March 16, 2023, at the age of 71.

Memorial services will be held at First United Methodist Church on March 22 at 10: 30 a.m. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.

Becky Carol Klose was born on Aug. 29, 1951, in Lampasas to Marvin Edwin Klose and Mildred Lee (Canales) Klose. She grew up on her family’s farm and dairy with her three sisters and graduated from Lampasas High School in 1969.

Becky continued her education at Tarleton State University and received a degree in elementary education in 1972. It was during her time at Tarleton that she met Charley Wright Isom Jr. The two were married on March 10, 1973, at First United Methodist Church of Lampasas.

After a brief stint in Georgia where Charley was an ag teacher and Becky taught at a private school, they returned to Lampasas to become partners in the family business, KAI Dairy.

Upon returning home, Mrs. Isom began teaching at Lampasas Middle School while her husband helped run the family business. She was named Walmart Teacher of the Year at Hanna Springs Intermediate School in 2002 and retired after 34 years of teaching to spend more time with her family.

Over the years, Mrs. Isom volunteered in various aspects of the Lampasas community. She was a Sunday school and children’s choir teacher at First United Methodist Church. She also served as a volunteer for the CAPS program at the church, as a committee member of the Lampasas County Museum Foundation, a member of the Retired Teachers Association, and as a 4-H leader for Food & Nutrition.

Her greatest joy was taking care of and spending time with Charley and their two sons, Trampus and Pepper.

Mrs. Isom’s passion for cooking led her and her sisters to initiate the Food Fair at the Lampasas County Youth Livestock Show in 2007. This event continues to grow every year.

She also enjoyed spending time with her grandsons, and attending their sports events and school activities. She also loved working in her garden, attending cooking demonstrations, and visiting with old friends and previous students at the veterinary hospital.

Mrs. Isom was preceded in death by her husband, Charley Isom, and her sister, Doretha Bohning.

She is survived by her sons Trampus (Kelli) Isom of Lampasas and Pepper (Katie Waldrop) Isom of Floresville; sisters Anita (James) Allen and Jan Klose, both of Lampasas; brother-in-law, Robert Bohning of Lampasas; grandchildren Preston, Cayhil and Olson Isom; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
