The Briggs Community Center will host its third annual First Responders and Law Enforcement Appreciation Dinner today at 7 p.m.
A free barbecue meal will be offered. Members of the public who are not first responders are welcome but are asked to bring a side dish or dessert.

St. Mary Catholic Church will serve a turkey dinner Sunday from 11 a.m. until meals are sold out. A large plate of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, yams and cranberry sauce -- with dessert and tea -- is $8. A small plate is $5.
TAX RATE HEARING
The Lampasas County Commissioners Court will hold a public hearing Thursday at 6 p.m. about the proposed county property tax rate for the 2018-2019 fiscal year. The hearing will be in the conference room at the Lampasas County Office Building, 409 S. Pecan St. in Lampasas.
The Commissioners Court has proposed to leave the tax rate at its current level.
BURN BAN LIFTED
Because of recent rain, County Judge Wayne Boultinghouse has lifted the burn ban until Sunday at 7 p.m.
