The Texas Department of Transportation installed and activated a new traffic signal Thursday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 190 and FM 2808 in Kempner.

For now, the signal is programmed to flash yellow – meaning caution – for U.S. 190 lanes and red – meaning stop – for FM 2808. Message boards say the signal will be programmed to begin full operation March 11.

Crews installed advanced flashing beacons on U.S. 190 and activated these signs to alert the traveling public of the upcoming signal.  New illumination was installed and activated. These will be on for 48 hours before running them with sensors, TxDOT said in a news release Friday.

Message boards are being used at each end of U.S. 190 to advise motorists of the new signal.
