Willard Merle Parsons, 89, of Lampasas died June 20, 2018 at Spring Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Memorial service will be July 6 at 2 p.m. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. His body was cremated.

Mr. Parsons was born Sept. 30, 1928 in Cheyenne, North Dakota to William Edward Parsons and Myrtle Theoline (Bottem) Parsons. He lived most of his life in Washington state.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in February 1951 and retired in September 1977. He did one tour in Vietnam and two tours in Korea.

Mr. Parsons received a Bachelor of Arts from St. Martin’s College in 1986.

He married Barbra Parsons on Sept. 1, 1964, and she preceded him in death.

Survivors include a sister, Ardis A. Ohara; stepdaughter, Arleen Padley and her child Shawna, and her child Carrie; step-grandson, David Archer Jr.; and a step-son-in-law, Lynn Irvine and his children, Eric Shane Archer, Jennifer Lynn Irvine and their children.

He also was preceded in death by brothers, Russell Parsons and Orvel Parsons; sisters, Elaine Braget and Caryl Ann Hunsaker; stepchildren, David Archer and Eileen Irvine; and by a stepgranddaughter, Shanna Padley.
