The quarterly meeting of the Lampasas Pilots Association will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday at Putters & Gutters Fun Center in Lampasas, in the back dining room.

Lometa ISD has officially adopted a budget for the 2023-2024 school year. The district’s Board of Trustees met Thursday for a special meeting to discuss and approve the new fiscal-year budget and tax rate.

Lampasas Police Department authorities said Merk & Tilley’s was burglarized early Thursday morning, and cash and clothing items were taken. At about 8:30 a.m., police received a call from employees who noticed the back door was open and items had been moved within the boutique business in the 400 block of South Live Oak Street.

The 15th annual Classics at the Classic Car Show will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the back parking lot of Storm’s Drive-In at 201 N. Key Ave. Overflow parking will be available at the old middle school campus.

Lampasas-area law enforcement confirmed that a shooting on Cameron Drive Thursday morning ended with the death of the shooter. Officials on the scene confirmed the shooter as former Lampasas sheriff Gordon Earl Morris.

The 88th Texas Legislature passed 774 laws that went into effect on Friday. These new laws cover everything from health care and law enforcement assistance to social issues.

Several entities have yet to finalize their property tax rates and budgets for the new fiscal year. Lampasas County officials will offer a public hearing on the new budget and tax rate Wednesday at 6 p.m.
