Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding over the day’s hearings. Defendant Charles Cecil Simpson of Bertram entered a plea and was sentenced to 12 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for driving while intoxicated-third or more.

Fire damages home Wednesday morning

A Lampasas County woman escaped without injury from a fire that started in her home on Wednesday morning. At approximately 11:20 a.m., the Lampasas and Kempner fire departments were called to the fire in the 300 block of County Road 3064.

Julia Ybarra, the new Miss Spring Ho for 2023, is joined by Little Miss Spring Ho Maddie Gouak after Monday’s pageant winners were announced. Miss Spring Ho and her court will represent the city at festivals throughout the year.
