Taylor Creek Elementary now has a former Lampasas High School student as one of its classroom teachers. Monica Garza is a 2023 graduate of Howard Payne University, where she was recognized as the Outstanding New Elementary Teacher in the education department.

Instructor availability limits LCHEC course offerings

The Lampasas County Higher Education Center has struggled to find staff for its phlebotomy and Patient Care Technician courses, Director Derrick Barrios said this week. Currently, LCHEC is offering only its Clinical Medical Assistant and Nurse Aide courses.

CATTLE AUCTION

The report from the Aug. 16 Lampasas Cattle Auction follows. Cattle and calves: Total cattle 416, compared to 511 last sale and 574 at this time last year. Compared to last sale, feeder steers and heifers were $5-$7 higher. Slaughter cows were steady to $3 lower, and slaughter bulls were steady.

Man arrested on felony assault charge

Authorities have arrested a Lampasas County man on a felony family assault charge and said he is “more than likely” an undocumented immigrant. Luis Camey-Mayen, 34, was arrested Aug. 5 on a charge of aggravated assault of a family or household member with a weapon.
