Celebrating a new location

Cooley Baltrun, PLLC recently had a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the opening of its new office at 219 E. Third St. in Lampasas. Holding the scissors is Jason Baltrun, the husband of attorney Jackie Baltrun, and they are surrounded by friends, family, office staff and chamber members.

Kempner City Council adopts new policies

Tuesday’s Kempner City Council meeting was devoted primarily to housekeeping items. Council members adopted two policies related to staff travel and credit card usage. Mayor Pro-Tem Rob Green and Councilman Dan Long were absent from the proceedings.

Walking program offered

The program “Walk N Talk – Rethink Your Drink” is a free eight-week walking initiative that will be offered on Saturday mornings beginning Nov. 3 at 10 a.m. During this series, friends and family from the community can come together to support one another in a fun, simple way.

Fire Safety Week encourages caution while cooking

Cooking safety should be on the minds of Lampasans this week after a fire safety and awareness proclamation was issued by city officials. Cooking fires are the leading cause of home fires and home fire injuries, according to the National Fire Prevention Association.

Lampasas County grand jury convened Wednesday to continue its July term. County Attorney John Greenwood presented information that resulted in the indictment of Alexander Jerome Collier on a charge of possession of a controlled substancemethamphetamine on Aug. 12.

Alamo Coffee receives variance for sale of beer

Alamo Coffee received a variance from the Lampasas City Council Monday night for the sale of beer at a future site on Key Avenue. The business, currently located at 301 South U.S. Highway 281, serves coffee, tea, energy drinks and smoothies.
