Lampasas County grand jury convened Wednesday to start the January term. Sgt. Investigator Fidel Morua of the Lampasas Police Department brought information that resulted in the indictment of Michelle Cheryl Holloway on a charge of forgery against the elderly on Oct. 24, 2023.

Commissioners approve new sheriff’s vehicles

In its first meeting of 2024, the Lampasas County Commissioners Court approved seven new vehicles for the Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office.

Heavy fog leads to two crashes Friday along U.S. 190

An incident involving an 18-wheeler that jackknifed across the travel lanes of U.S. Highway 190 Friday morning required a lengthy clean-up from the Texas Department of Transportation. After the 18-wheeler incident, another small crash occurred at the intersection of U.S. 190 and FM 2808.

LVFD seeks volunteers

The Lampasas Volunteer Fire Department is seeking additional volunteers to assist with fire and other emergency calls in the county. Volunteers must be over 18, have a valid driver license and no criminal history. Those interested may pick up at application at the fire station, 1107 E. Fourth St.

Fire chief to bid goodbye

Lampasas Fire Chief Jeff Smith confirmed Friday he has issued his resignation to take a position with the Decatur Fire Department. His last day will be Jan. 19. Smith described the change in position as positive for his career and his family.
