Seven tables of players were present for Community Bridge on Feb. 9. Weldon Clampitte was welcomed to the group.Margaret Oberender won high for the day, Sylvia Miller was second, and Kathy Griffis-Bailey placed third. Most cities in area see drop in sales tax revenues

The February sales tax statistics were not pretty this month, as most entities in the Central Texas area recorded percentage declines compared to their February 2025 numbers.After posting a 1% dip last month, the city of Lampasas saw its February rebate decrease 3% from the same period last year.

Attorney seeks Democratic nomination for congressional seat

Stuart Whitlow -- a fifthgeneration Central Texan, attorney and nonprofit leader -- has announced his candidacy for Texas’ 31st Congressional District. He is running in the Democratic Party Primary.

New VA clinic planned in Copperas Cove

A new Veterans Affairs outpatient clinic announced for Copperas Cove will improve healthcare access for Lampasas County veterans. The facility, to be located about five miles from Fort Hood, is expected to serve a regional veteran population of nearly 200,000, including those in Lampasas.
