Dump truck overturns after avoiding school bus

A 42-year-old woman traveling on Farm to Market Road 580 East rolled her vehicle after noticing a stopped school bus on Thursday at 7:15 a.m. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety’s incident report, the school bus was not involved in the rollover.

Gas leak on Key Avenue labeled false alarm

A reported natural gas leak near South Key Avenue was deemed a “mystery” after Atmos Energy staff was unable to discover any leak early Thursday afternoon. Lampasas Fire Department Interim Fire Marshal Bart Baker said the department received multiple calls from locations in the 100 and 300 blocks of Key Avenue that reported a scent of natural gas around 11 a.m.

Lampasas school board receives academic performance update

Lampasas Independent School District students topped their region peers in 90% of the 2022-2023 STAAR test performance indicators, according to the Texas Education Agency. During last week’s LISD Board of Trustees meeting, Assistant Superintendent Dana Holcomb presented trustees with the annual Texas Academic Performance Review.
