Appraisal district board accepts chief appraiser’s resignation

The Lampasas Central Appraisal District Board of Directors formally approved the resignation of Chief Appraiser Susan Jones in a called meeting Thursday.Jones’ final day with the appraisal district will be Aug. 2.Board Member Bill Peterson was absent from the meeting.

Electric transmission project could go through Kempner

Brazos Electric will host a come-and-go meeting Aug. 6 from 4-7 p.m. to provide information and receive feedback from area residents on a proposed 138kV transmission line in Coryell and Lampasas counties.The meeting will be held at the Copperas Cove Civic Center, 1206 West Avenue B.

LHS entrance set to reopen

Texas Department of Transportation contractors completed restriping of the Lampasas High School entrance at U.S. Highway 281 on Friday.Crews have been working on redevelopment of the LHS entrance since June 12.The first day of school for all Lampasas ISD students is Aug. 8.

Two Lampasas women fatally shot in murder-suicide

Authorities confirmed Friday a barricaded suspect was responsible for a Thursday shooting that left two Lampasas women dead. The perpetrator of the double homicide had no prior connection with his victims, authorities said.
