THANKSGIVING HOLIDAYS County offices as well as the municipal offices in Kempner, Lampasas and Lometa will be closed Nov. 24-25 in observance of the Thanksgiving holidays.

Lometa’s elementary school choir -- which features third-, fourth and fifth-grade students performed the national anthem during Lometa’s Salute to Veterans program on Nov. 11. The event’s keynote speaker was Roni Cartwright, not pictured, who spoke to those in attendance about the joy she found serving in the military, as well as the benefits of service.

Inclement weather did not deter the city of Kempner from honoring local veterans last week at the annual Veterans Day ceremony. “Our veterans have faced much worse conditions,” Kempner Mayor John “J.W.” Wilkerson said before thanking all those in attendance.

Lometa Principal Amanda Morris has released the school’s list of honor students and those with perfect attendance for the second six-week grading period. “I am very proud of our students and can’t wait to see their successes up ahead,” Morris said.
